Tham gia vào Hero Knight, người chơi sẽ vào vai anh hùng chiến đấu chống lại bọn quỷ xâm lược quê hương. Với cốt truyện đơn giản, lối chơi không khó tiếp cận, người chơi không phải suy nghĩ gì nhiều mà chỉ việc cầm vũ khí lên và chiến đấu.

Người chơi sẽ điều khiển nhân vật bằng bộ phím ảo được sắp xếp ngang dưới màn hình rất thuận tiện và đơn giản. Trong quá trình chiến đấu, người chơi đồng thời nâng cấp nhân vật, thu thập thêm vàng và kim cương. Bên cạnh đó là tăng cường các chỉ số, mua thêm hoặc thu thập các trang thiết bị cho anh hùng của mình.

Sở hữu đầy đủ những yếu tố nhập vai quen thuộc khiến cho Hero Knight trở nên hấp dẫn và có nhiều thứ để làm hơn so với lối chơi đi cảnh chặt chém thông thường.

Ngoài những đòn tấn công thường, người chơi còn có thể mở khóa những kỹ năng mới mẻ như lửa, băng, điện, sét, và thậm chí còn có thể hấp thu sức mạnh của những con boss ẩn và biến hình thành dạng thức mạnh mẽ hơn.

Tất cả nhân vật trong trò chơi này đều được tạo hình dưới dạng 8 bit và 16 bit nhiều màu sắc. Tuy vậy, nó không hề khó nhìn mà dụng ý của nhà phát triển là để gợi nhớ đến những tựa game đi cảnh 8bit trong quá khứ.

Có thể nói là Hero Knight không có quá nhiều điều mới mẻ, từ cơ chế chiến đấu cho đến sắp xếp bối cảnh màn chơi. Tuy vậy với những ai đang tìm kiếm một tựa game nhẹ nhàng để giải trí thì Hero Knight là lựa chọn khá tuyệt đấy
